Hey Lykkers! We just returned from an unforgettable trip to St. Louis, and we can’t wait to share our experience with you.
From the stunning skyline to the rich history and mouthwatering food, this city has something for everyone.
The Majestic Gateway Arch
One of the first sights that caught our eye was the iconic Gateway Arch. Standing at 630 feet, it’s the tallest monument in the United States. We arrived early to avoid crowds, and we’re so glad we did! Tickets for the tram ride to the top are $14 for adults and $10 for kids, and trust us, the views are absolutely worth it. The Arch is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, but be sure to check the website for seasonal hours.
Exploring Forest Park
Just a short drive from the Arch, we found ourselves in Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the U.S. This beautiful green space is home to several attractions, including the St. Louis Zoo (free admission!), the St. Louis Art Museum (free too!), and the Missouri History Museum. We spent an entire afternoon wandering the park’s trails, soaking in the scenery, and enjoying a picnic with local snacks. The park is open year-round from dawn until dusk.
Local Eats: A Culinary Adventure
After a day of exploring, our stomachs were rumbling. We headed to the famous Pappy's Smokehouse for some mouthwatering Memphis-style barbecue. We ordered the pulled meat sandwich, which was a steal at $12, and it was served with a side of their delicious baked beans. If you have room, don’t miss the sweet potato fries—totally worth the extra $3!
For dessert, we ventured to Ted Drewes Frozen Custard. This local treasure offers rich and creamy custard, with prices around $4 for a cone. We tried the “concrete” (a thick custard treat), and it was the perfect way to cool down after a hot day.
Where to Stay: The Four Seasons St. Louis
For a luxurious stay, we recommend the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis, located right by the Arch. The views from our room were breathtaking, and we enjoyed lounging by the rooftop pool. Room rates start at around $350 per night, but the experience is unmatched. Plus, being so close to major attractions made our trip even more convenient.
A Skyline to Remember
As the sun set over the city, we found ourselves at the Riverfront, watching the skyline transform into a sparkling display of lights. It was a magical moment, capturing the essence of St. Louis. We loved exploring the city’s history and enjoying its vibrant culture. Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or just someone looking for a great view, St. Louis has it all.
So, if you’re planning your next getaway, consider this gem of the Midwest. We’re already dreaming of our next visit! Until next time, happy travels!
