Red Lips Must-Have!

Red lipstick always feels a bit different from everything else in my makeup bag. It’s not just color—it shifts the whole tone of how I carry myself. Some reds feel easy and everyday, others feel more intentional, like they belong to a certain kind of moment.
Right now, I keep switching between the Creamy Mattes from Maybelline and ROUGE LION from Chanel, and the contrast between them is honestly what makes both interesting.
1. Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes
This one feels like the “reachable” red. It’s the lipstick I don’t have to think too hard about before using. The texture is smooth enough that it glides on without much effort, and the finish sits in that comfortable matte zone—not too dry, not too glossy, just balanced. What I like is how flexible it is. I can apply it lightly and blot it for a softer stain effect, or layer it up when I want something more defined.
2. Chanel ROUGE LION
Then there’s ROUGE LION from Chanel, which feels like a completely different experience. Everything about it feels more deliberate—the packaging, the texture, even the way the color shows up on the lips. The finish is smoother and more refined, like it’s meant to sit in place with intention. When I wear it, it doesn’t feel like I’m just putting on lipstick; it feels like I’m completing a look. The red itself has that polished depth that makes everything else feel slightly more elevated, even if the rest of the makeup is minimal.
Red lipstick doesn’t have to mean the same thing every time. Sometimes it’s part of a routine, sometimes it feels like a moment. Having both of these in my collection makes it easier to move between those moods without forcing anything.
