I’ve always preferred starting my skincare with an oil cleanser. There’s something satisfying about watching sunscreen, makeup, and the day itself melt away without having to scrub at the skin.
It feels gentle, almost like a reset button before the second cleanse takes over.
Lately, I’ve been rotating a few Korean cleansing oils that each bring something slightly different to the routine. They’re all lightweight in their own way, but the details in their formulas give them distinct personalities.
1. ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil (Oil to Foam Cleanser)
This one leans into a slightly more transformative experience. It starts off as a smooth oil and then shifts into a soft foam once water is added, which makes the whole cleansing step feel more complete. The blend of jojoba seed oil and olive oil gives it a cushioned glide on the skin, making makeup removal feel effortless rather than harsh.
It’s especially helpful on days when makeup is heavier than usual because it breaks everything down without needing much pressure. There’s a certain practicality to it—it doesn’t overcomplicate things, just does its job thoroughly and reliably.
2. beplain Mung Bean Cleansing Oil
This one has a calmer, more minimal energy. The texture is light, almost thin compared to richer cleansing oils, but it still manages to feel effective. Mung bean extract is the key ingredient here, and it’s often associated with helping reduce buildup like blackheads over time.
What stands out most is how clean it feels after rinsing—there’s no heavy residue left behind, just a smooth surface that feels ready for the next step. It’s the kind of cleanser that fits easily into a simple routine, especially if you prefer something that doesn’t linger on the skin.
3. SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil
This one feels airy from the very first pump. It spreads quickly and doesn’t cling, which makes it ideal for quick evening routines when you just want everything off without extra effort. Centella asiatica extract brings a calming touch, while jojoba seed oil keeps the texture balanced so it doesn’t feel too dry or too heavy.
It rinses clean without that oily film some cleansing oils tend to leave behind. There’s a lightness to it that makes it easy to reach for repeatedly—it doesn’t demand attention, it just quietly gets the job done.
Even though all three are oil cleansers, they don’t feel interchangeable once you start using them regularly. ma:nyo is more transformative and thorough, beplain feels minimal and refining, and SKIN1004 stays light and uncomplicated. It really comes down to how much “weight” you want in that first step of cleansing—some days you want something a bit more structured, other days you just want everything gone with as little effort as possible.
